Gotham pub double shooting accused cleared

A man has been cleared of attempted murder in connection with a shooting outside a Nottinghamshire pub.
Jody Russell, 31, of Brisco Avenue, Loughborough, admitted firing the shots which wounded two others on 22 February outside the Star Inn in Gotham.
But he told Nottingham Crown Court he acted in self defence following an earlier fight.
He was also cleared of an alternate charge of wounding with intent to do the men grievous bodily harm.
Mr Russell was also found not guilty of possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life.
Nottinghamshire Police said they acknowledged the jury's decision but both they and the Crown Prosecution Service believed there was sufficient evidence to put the case before a court.
