New homes approved for former Cotgrave Colliery site

Plans to build nearly 500 homes on the site of a former Nottinghamshire colliery have been given the go-ahead.

Rushcliffe Borough Council has granted permission for 470 homes, a business park and open space on the old Cotgrave Colliery site.

The authority's decision must now be approved by regional government officials.

The council said the proposals would aid regeneration of the town as well as creating job opportunities.

Councillor Neil Clarke, leader of Rushcliffe Borough Council, said: "We're supporting this development after much careful consideration.

"We're confident that Cotgrave will gain enormous economic benefits and opportunities as a result of redeveloping this brownfield site."

"We will ensure that the new housing complements plans we are working on to regenerate Cotgrave town centre to bring new shops, jobs and prosperity to the whole expanded community."
