Jury out in Ratcliffe-on-Soar power protesters trial

A jury has retired in a trial of climate change campaigners accused of planning to shut down Ratcliffe-on-Soar power station for a week.

The 20 protesters were among more than 100 people arrested on Easter Monday last year, at the Iona school in Sneinton in Nottingham.

The protesters are charged with conspiring to commit aggravated trespass in April 2009.

They have denied the charges, at Nottingham Crown Court.

All 20 men and women admitted they were protesting but said their actions were necessary in the fight against climate change.
