Woman rescued from flat fire in Sherwood

Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus have rescued a woman from a fire in a flat in Nottingham.

Emergency crews from Arnold and Central stations were called to the fire at the property in Winchester Street, Sherwood at 0550 GMT on Sunday.

The woman was brought to safety and was given first aid at the scene, a Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue spokeswoman said.

The cause is being investigated by fire officials.
