Health officials urge flu patients to stay at home

People with flu symptoms in Nottinghamshire are being urged to stay away from A&E centres.

Public health director Chris Kenny said it was important for people to stay at home so the illness was not spread to other people.

He said people should treat any flu-like illnesses with plenty of fluids and rest.

It was a good idea to send someone healthy to pick up any medicine required, he said.

Flu symptoms include fever, cough, sore throat, fatigue, pain in muscles and joints, headache and chills.

Anyone who develops flu-like symptoms can visit the NHS Choices website, call NHS Direct or visit their GP, he added.
