Blidworth caravan fires treated as arson

Police investigating two caravan fires outside homes in Nottinghamshire say they were started deliberately.

Fire crews were called to both Saville Street and Grange Road, in Blidworth, at about 0100 GMT on Thursday following reports caravans were ablaze.

Both caravans were destroyed and damage was caused to both the owners' houses.

No-one was injured, but both homes were evacuated. Police have appealed for anyone with information about the fires to contact them.

Pc Amy Freeman, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: "We believe both fires were started deliberately and they are being treated as arson.

"Thankfully no-one was injured however these were reckless acts which could have had fatal consequences."
