Hundreds of cannabis plants seized in Giltbrook raid

Cannabis plants with a street value of £700,000 has been seized by police at an industrial unit in Nottinghamshire.

About 1,700 plants were found at the unit at Giltbrook near Eastwood, Nottinghamshire Police said.

The raid was part of Operation Vanguard, a campaign against illegal drugs and organised crime which started three years ago.

The raid on Gilt Way on 2 April was the result of a tip-off, a police spokesman said.

Police found specialist growing equipment including high intensity lighting at the property. No arrests have been made in connection with the raid.

Det Sgt Lee Young said: "These plants are now in our possession and will be destroyed - which means the drugs will not end up on the streets of Nottinghamshire."
