Redhill fire murder victim died of head wounds

A woman found dead after a fire at a house in Nottingham died of head injuries, a post-mortem examination has revealed.

Her body was discovered after the blaze, at Georgia Drive in Redhill, was extinguished early on Monday.

Police have confirmed they are conducting a murder investigation and are continuing to question a youth in connection with the death.

Two boys who were at the address escaped from the house fire unharmed.

The property, which suffered extensive damage, has been cordoned off while forensic officers examine the scene.

Police have been carrying out house-to-house inquiries in the area.

Det Ch Insp Kate Meynell said: "I am appealing for witnesses or anybody with information to contact us immediately, in particular any nearby residents who have found discarded clothing or items in their gardens or on the road side."
