Police in Nottingham are trying to trace a woman in connection with a suspected child abduction attempt in a city centre store.

The woman went up to the child, who was in a buggy in the Victoria Centre John Lewis, at about 1555 BST on Thursday.

The child's mother challenged the woman and she left. The child was not hurt and is safe and well, police said.

Nottinghamshire Police have released an image of the woman and want anyone with information to contact them.

The woman is described as white, with dark brown, collar-length hair. She was wearing glasses and also wore a body warmer style waistcoat over a blue-grey short sleeved shirt and dark coloured trousers.

She is said to be in her late 30s or early 40s, of medium build and about 5ft 4in tall.
