Pedestrian killed in Nottinghamshire M1 crash named

A man who was fatally injured when he was hit by a van on the M1 in Nottinghamshire has been named.

Kelvin Cook, from Nuthall, near Nottingham, died after being struck by a Ford Iveco between junctions 25 and 26, as he walked on the hard shoulder.

Mr Cook was taken to the Queen's Medical Centre in Nottingham after the crash, at about 07:30 GMT, on Saturday where he later died from his injuries.

The M1 was closed northbound between the A52 and A610 for several hours.

The 56-year-old van driver was unhurt in the collision.
