Soldier killed in A46 collision near Newark

A man who died in a five-vehicle crash on the A46 in Nottinghamshire has been identified as a serving soldier based in Lincolnshire.

L/Cpl Christopher Bradshaw, 30, from Telford, Shropshire, died when the car he was driving collided with a lorry at the Farndon junction, near Newark.

The lorry driver is in hospital with minor injuries.

Two other lorries and another car were also involved in the crash on Saturday morning but no-one else was injured.

L/Cpl Bradshaw was based at RAF Digby near Scopwick.

The road was closed just after 05:00 GMT on Saturday until 19:30 GMT on Sunday.

Nottinghamshire police have appealed for witnesses to contact them.
