Man charged after PC Diederik Coetzee injured
A 25-year-old Nottinghamshire man has been charged with dangerous driving following a crash that seriously injured a police officer.
PC Diederik Coetzee, 55, came off his bicycle on 25 November 2011 and is still being treated in hospital.
Mitchel Graham of Grange Road, Blidworth, has been charged with two counts of dangerous driving and one of failing to stop at a collision.
He was released on bail and will appear again at magistrates court on 14 May.
Police have seized a Volkswagen Corrado as part of their investigation.
Three other people previously arrested in connection with the crash will face no further action, Nottinghamshire Police said.
PC Coetzee remains in Ashfield Community Hospital but is making "a slow but steady recovery", a police spokesman said.
In 2005 PC Coetzee made national headlines when he made 309 arrests on the Ladybrook estate, Mansfield, in just 12 months.
