Part of a street in Nottingham has been sealed off after reports of a shooting.

An area around Gregory Boulevard and Birkin Avenue was cordoned off in Hyson Green on Monday evening.

Nottinghamshire Police said officers were called to the scene and found the rear window of a Citroen car in the street had been damaged.

A police statement said: "There is currently no evidence to suggest anyone was injured in the incident."

A woman, who wanted to be known as Parveen, said she saw a man firing a gun in the street.

She said: "What I saw was a guy, he got out of the car with the gun... he walks off, he had his face covered, a hood on, all black clothes. We knew he was up to no good.

"I heard two big bangs and that made me cry, and I was crying on the phone to the police. I was really scared."
