Man arrested over knife-point burglary in Worksop

A man has been arrested after an elderly woman was held at knife-point in a burglary at her home in Worksop.

The 88-year-old victim suffered a cut to her hand as she tried to fight off the man at the house on Saturday.

Despite being injured the homeowner refused to hand over money during the break-in, at about 21:45 BST, and the raider left empty-handed.

The 31-year-old Worksop man was released on bail. Police have appealed for information about the incident.

The raider was described as white and wearing a grey hooded top, which was pulled over his face, and blue jeans.

The victim was taken to hospital for treatment and has since been discharged.

Det Sgt Rick Jones, from Nottinghamshire Police, said: "This was a horrific attack on a vulnerable, elderly woman in her own home."
