Boy hit by Jeep in Newark 'critical'

A 10-year-old boy is said to be critically ill in hospital after being hit by a Jeep in Newark.

The boy suffered head injuries after the crash, which happened in Friary Road at about 17:00 BST on Saturday.

He was hit by a silver Jeep Cherokee and Nottinghamshire Police has asked witnesses to contact the force.

Police spokesman Rob James said: "The boy was taken to the Queen's Medical Centre in Nottingham where his condition is described as critical."
