A Newark man is charged for possession of imitation gun

A Nottinghamshire man has been charged with possessing an imitation firearm with intent to cause fear of violence.

Gordon Garside, 31, of California Road, Farndon, Newark, was remanded in police custody and will appear before magistrates in Nottingham on Saturday.

Police were called to reports of an armed man threatening children in Sconce Hill Park in the town on Thursday.

Nobody was hurt but youngsters were left frightened by the events.
