A cyclist has been killed in a crash which closed a main Nottingham road for several hours.

The bicycle collided with a motorbike in Middleton Boulevard, close to the junction with the A52, just after 07:30 BST.

The 52-year-old woman died soon afterwards and a man aged 31 remains in a critical condition in hospital.

Rush hour traffic was diverted and the southbound carriageway did not reopen until early afternoon.

Police have appealed for any witnesses to come forward.
