Teen robbed near Kassam football stadium in Oxford

A man was attacked in Oxford by a gang who hit him with a wooden stick before stealing £110.

The 18-year-old was walking through the park between the Kassam Stadium and Knights Road in Blackbird Leys at 2015 BST on Tuesday.

He was then surrounded by four men who kicked and punched him.

The victim was taken to the John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford where he was treated for cuts to his head.

One of the offenders is described as white, about 5ft 6ins tall, and in his mid to late teens.

He was skinny, had a big nose, and was wearing a grey hooded top.

'Very serious'

Another is described as white, in his mid to late teens and about 5ft 7ins tall.

He was wearing a black hooded top and had a black scarf over his face.

Police are appealing for witnesses.

Pc Kierin Brogan said: "This is a well-used route between Blackbird Leys and the Kassam Stadium that usually has a lot of foot traffic going through.

"We are taking this incident very seriously and as a result of this robbery we will be increasing patrols in the area and using a number of plain clothed officers to help detect offenders as part of Operation Buzzard - our local robbery reduction initiative."
