A senior Oxfordshire police officer has denied committing arson and fraud, and perverting the course of justice.

James Trotman, a former Thames Valley police area commander for Oxford, appeared at Swindon Magistrates' Court earlier.

The charges relate to an alleged attack on a Citroen Picasso and allegedly fraudulent insurance claims.

The 44-year-old was first arrested in February. He was granted bail and the case was adjourned until 3 September.
