Children survive fatal car crash on A41 near Bicester

Two children survived a car crash which killed their father and an elderly couple in another car.

The children and a woman were injured in the two-car head-on crash between Bicester and Aylesbury.

South Central Ambulance crews were called to the A41 near Kingswood at about 1840 BST on Sunday.

A 28-year-old man from Chipping Norton and a 79-year-old man and 75-year-old woman from Brackley in Northamptonshire died in the crash.

'Loss of life'

A 24-year-old woman was airlifted to hospital and two children were taken there by road.

The injured woman was taken to Oxford's John Radcliffe Hospital intensive care unit with serious injuries.

Both injured children, a three-year-old girl and boy, aged five, were described as "walking wounded" with minor injuries and were taken to Stoke Mandeville Hospital.

Thames Valley and Chiltern Air Ambulance officer Mark Begley said: "Two cars came into collision at fairly high speed, and unfortunately there was loss of life."

Thames Valley Police have appealed for witnesses to the crash, which is under investigation.
