Bullocks rescued from Oxfordshire swamp by fire crews

Firefighters were called to rescue two young bullocks which had become trapped in a muddy bog.

The animals were unable to free themselves on Saturday afternoon from the swamp in Park Farm, Marston, Oxfordshire.

It took two hours for crews to free the bullocks from the water after they used specialist rescue equipment.

Both animals are expected to make a full recovery, the service said.

Group manager Rob McDougall reminded farmers to ensure gates were locked during the summer months.

"During this dry spell animals will attempt to get to water where it is not readily available in the fields," he said.
