Thieves have stolen a rifle during a burglary at a house in Carterton.

They broke into the property on Oakfield Road between 2300 BST on Tuesday and about 0430 BST on Wednesday, police said.

Offenders stole a .22 calibre Anschutz target rifle, a mobile phone, laptop, and left the scene in a black BMW M5 after taking the keys from the house.

Thames Valley Police said they believed the burglary was planned.

Det Sgt Dick White said: "We believe that the property has been deliberately targeted because of the car and the burglars broke into the property to locate the keys to the vehicle.

"I would urge anyone with information about this incident to come forward and speak to police immediately."
