Inquiry into string of burglaries in Witney

Mobile phones, laptops and an Audi estate were among a list of expensive items stolen from three homes in Witney last weekend.

Burglars broke into a property at Hollis Close and stole a television, laptop and handbag.

Thieves stole £400 in cash, a mobile phone and credit cards from a house in Eton Close.

A second home in Eton Close was broken into and various items were taken along with a grey Audi A4 Avant estate car.

Offenders also tried unsuccessfully to break into a third property in Eton Close.

Det Sgt Dick White said: "I would warn people to be vigilant to this type of crime.

"If you see anyone acting suspiciously in your neighbourhood, call us and let us know what you've seen.

"People should also ensure that valuables and car keys are kept out of sight and not left lying around, and that doors and windows are kept locked.

"Don't make it easy for thieves to steal your valuables."
