Thame golf club murder victim was decapitated

A barman killed at a golf club in Oxfordshire was decapitated, police have confirmed.

Christopher Varian, 32, from Stone in Buckinghamshire, was attacked at the Oxfordshire Golf Club in Rycote Lane, Thame, on Saturday.

Jonathan Limani, 33, from Rycote Lane in Thame, has been charged with murder.

Det Ch Insp Steve Tolmie, leading the investigation said: "Thames Valley Police can confirm that Mr Varian died as a result of decapitation."

Mr Limani appeared at Oxford Crown Court on Tuesday and was remanded to appear again on 22 October.

Post-mortem tests showed Mr Varian died from serious stab wounds to the neck.

His family paid tribute to him, saying: "Chris was a wonderful person, everyone's friend. You could not wish to find a harder and more honest worker.

"He was truly a gentle man who wouldn't hurt a fly.

"His passing leaves a hole in this family which can never be filled or forgotten."
