Oxfordshire troops return from Afghanistan

More than 40 soldiers who provided support for frontline troops in Afghanistan have arrived back at RAF Brize Norton after a six-month mission.

Members of the Oxfordshire-based 12 Logistic Support Regiment RLC were taken to Dalton Barracks near Abingdon to be reunited with their families.

The troops were part of a 400-strong deployment of soldiers based at Camp Bastion, in Helmand Province.

A further 60 soldiers from the regiment are due to return next month.

The battalion's main responsibility was to transport food, equipment and weapons around Afghanistan. There were no fatalities.

The soldiers will receive the freedom of the town when they parade through Abingdon on 8 December.
