A 49-year-old man has been found guilty of stabbing another man near a children's play park.

Raymond Wells, of East Avenue, Oxford, was convicted of causing grievous bodily harm with intent following the attack at Cowley Road, East Oxford.

Wells was arrested after he stabbed a 31-year-old man near to the Manzil Way play park, in April.

He was remanded in custody after Thursday's verdict at Oxford Crown Court until sentencing on 22 November.

Det Con Simon Beaton, of Thames Valley Police, said: "I am pleased with the verdict, which I hope sends out a strong message to those who would carry or use a knife."
