Barge on Thames in Oxfordshire damaged by fire

A barge on the River Thames in Oxfordshire has been badly damaged by fire.

Firefighters were called to the houseboat in Farmoor on Saturday at 1930 GMT after the owner returned home to find smoke billowing out.

The owner of the boat yard managed to tow the boat closer to the fire crews to allow them to tackle the flames.

Oxfordshire Fire and Rescue said the owner of the barge was unhurt but damage to the boat was "extensive".
