Bicester family's home raided by armed masked men

A family was threatened by a gang of masked men armed with a hammer and knives during a raid on their home.

The four men burst into the property in Murcott Road, Upper Arncott, near Bicester after the owner of the house opened the door on Sunday evening.

They threatened the Oxfordshire family - including a 12-year-old girl - before stealing money, jewellery and mobile phones and escaping in a car.

Police are appealing for witnesses to come forward.

Det Con Jill Morton said: "A dark-coloured vehicle was seen leaving the area after the men left the property, which drove off in the direction of Murcott.

"Incidents of this type are extremely uncommon and I would like to reassure local residents that everything that can be done to catch those responsible is being done."
