Oxfordshire family escapes thatched roof fire

A family has escaped unhurt after a fire at a thatched home in Oxfordshire.

About 70 firefighters were called to the detached two-storey house in Lower Radley on Monday evening and found a "rapidly developing fire".

A smoke alarm alerted the family and they fled the building unhurt. At the height of the blaze, crews worked from ladders to prevent the fire spreading.

A Red Cross Fire Emergency Support Unit helped the family and crews remained at the scene throughout the night.
