A school in north Oxfordshire has been given a cricketing masterclass by Ashes hero Andrew 'Freddie' Flintoff.

The former England cricket captain was at Bloxham School on Tuesday encouraging pupils to take up the game.

He said: "When England do well in any sport there's a real buzz about the game and I think cricket's like that at the moment.

"We're not trying to see stars of the future we just want to see kids playing," he added.

Mr Flintoff will be returning to club cricket himself in August when he teams up with his brother for Penwortham in Lancashire's Palace Shield.

The A-list player recently announced his signing to the Preston side on his Twitter page and said it was something he was looking forward to.

"I see club cricket as cricket in its purest form, people work all week looking forward to the weekend to play cricket," he said.
