Oxford woman held hostage at knifepoint by robbers

Robbers held a woman at knifepoint in her home and forced her to give them security codes and keys to the Oxford business where she works.

The 27-year-old was overpowered by three men who were waiting for her when she returned from work on Thursday.

They tied her up and threatened her, to gain access to The Money Shop in the Cowley Road where she works.

She was left guarded by one of the men while two others opened the safe at the shop.

'Wearing balaclavas'

The Money Shop is a national chain which specialises in cashing cheques and providing cash loans.

A police spokesman said: "Fortunately the victim was not seriously injured in this incident, but has been left very shaken and distressed.

"The offenders were all wearing balaclavas and were dressed in black.

"The man who stayed at the scene was black, and all three spoke with either Jamaican or Nigerian accents."

Police said it was not yet known whether anything was stolen from the shop.
