Oxfordshire drug trafficking arrests up by 30%

Arrests for drug trafficking in Oxfordshire have risen by almost 30%, police have said.

There were 197 arrests between February 2011 and February 2012, compared to 153 arrests over the previous 12 months.

The biggest increases were in the districts of Cherwell, South Oxfordshire and Vale of White Horse.

Thames Valley Police statistics also show an increase of nearly 2% in the number of people being caught in possession of cannabis in the county.
