A man has been charged with the rape of a 15-year-old girl in Oxfordshire.

The incident is alleged to have taken place in the early hours of Saturday after the girl was walking in Shilton Park in Carterton after a night out.

Perry Griffith, 22, of Newland, Witney, was charged earlier with one count of rape following his arrest on Thursday. He will appear at Oxford Magistrates' Court on Saturday.

A man arrested on suspicion of rape on Tuesday was released without charge.

Det Insp Steve Raffield, of Thames Valley Police, said: "We recognise this incident is likely to cause concern in the local community and I would like to reassure people that we have a team of detectives working on the case."
