Work has begun on a £33m retirement village in Oxfordshire.

The residential care facility in Curbridge Road, Witney, will house about 240 residents, in a mixture of independent living apartments and a care centre.

It will also include a restaurant, gym, swimming pool, library, shop and outdoor bowling green.

The village, which will be called Coral Springs, is expected to open in 2016, developers say.

The site will be run by Richmond Care Villages, part of Bupa, and will include 60 care beds and 46 assisted living suites.

There will also be 79 independent living apartments.
