Two people have been arrested as part of a police investigation into a care home in Oxfordshire.

A Thames Valley Police statement said officers had visited the Orchard Lodge in Baskerville Road, Sonning Common.

It said all residents were found to be safe and the force had worked with the county council to ensure they had an appropriate place to stay.

A man and woman, both 62, from Reading remain in custody on suspicion of wilful neglect.

Det Insp Larry Johnson, from the protecting vulnerable people investigation unit, said: "Our primary focus today was to ensure the safety and wellbeing of all of the residents.

"We treat all reports seriously and will investigate them. This investigation is still its early stages but we will keep the residents and their families informed."
