Landslip closes railway line between Banbury-Leamington Spa
A major landslip has closed a railway line causing disruption to services between Banbury and Leamington Spa.
Passengers face using a replacement bus service between the stations adding an extra 90 minutes to journey times.
Network Rail had hoped to reopen the line by Tuesday but later said it would stay shut for at least a week while 350,000 tonnes of material are removed.
The landslip has occurred near Harbury Tunnel in Warwickshire, the scene of a similar incident last year.
Chiltern Railways has warned some trains may also be cancelled but customers can use their tickets with other operators.
Network Rail said the earth movement happened at about 15:00 GMT on Saturday affecting the train lines and nearby tunnel.
A spokesman said engineers were currently on site monitoring any further movements before a detailed assessment could take place.
He added it was a known problem area experiencing elevated levels of ground-water.
