Shropshire councils' compensation bill revealed

The two main councils in Shropshire paid out more than £258,600 in two years to people who were injured on roads and pathways.

Shropshire Council paid £121,962 and Telford & Wrekin Council £136,672 between June 2008 and May 2010.

Freedom of Information requests showed claimants from Bridgnorth received the largest amount of money.

In total, the two councils paid out £570,860 after compensation claims for various matters during the period.

Shropshire Council paid £373,917 while Telford & Wrekin Council paid £196,943.
