Randlay construction work 'to start soon'

A council says redevelopment work in a part of Telford will start in the next two to three weeks.

More shops, a community centre and 72-bed care home are part of plans by Telford and Wrekin Council to revamp Randlay.

But concerns had been raised by residents after it appeared work had ground to a halt.

Councillor Eric Carter said they have been finalising contract details with the developer which has held things up.

Construction work was scheduled for early summer, the council has said.

Mr Carter apologised to anyone concerned about the delays.

"The council are fully committed to developing the Randlay scheme," he said.

"It's really to do with legal requirements and discussions with solicitors.

"I understand from our office today that we have now concluded all the legal agreements and within the next two to three weeks we will be on site in Randlay and starting to deliver that what was promised some months ago."

The multi-million-pound scheme is one of several redevelopment projects in Telford.
