Plans to shut CSA office in Shrewsbury

Plans to close a Child Support Agency (CSA) office in Shrewsbury in October have been announced.

Forty-two employees at New Mayfield House have been informed, the CSA said.

Formal consultation on voluntary early release schemes and other possible options available to colleagues within the site have begun, the agency said.

It said the office processed new CSA cases, which have sharply reduced since 2008, and there would be "no discernable effect on the public".

The agency said it "deeply regrets" the impact on its staff.
