Four injured in bus collision near Wem

Four people have been taken to hospital after a collision between a bus and a 4x4 vehicle in Shropshire.

Three ambulances were sent to a country road off Weston Cross Roads, towards Wem, near Shrewsbury at about 1035 BST.

Two female passengers on the bus, both believed to be in their 70s, suffered head injuries, ambulance crews said.

The driver of the 4x4 suffered leg injuries and a male passenger received injuries to his face. All patients were sent to hospital in Shrewsbury.

Single decker bus

A spokesman for West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman said: "On arrival at the scene, crews found a single decker bus and a small 4x4 vehicle that had been in a collision.

"The driver of the 4x4, a man believed to be in his 60s, suffered leg injuries and was treated at the scene.

"The passenger in the car, also a man, suffered facial injuries and was also treated at the scene.

"Two woman passengers on the bus, both believed to be in their 70s, both suffered head injuries and were also treated at the scene."

No-one else was injured in the crash, they added.
