Trio arrested after spate of arsons on Herongate estate

Three youths have been arrested on suspicion of arson with intent to endanger life after a spate of arsons on a Shropshire housing estate.

The four incidents, on Shrewsbury's Herongate estate, involved paper being set alight and pushed through doors, police said.

In the latest attack, a front door in Thornton Road was damaged by the lit paper overnight on Tuesday.

The youths were arrested at different addresses in Shrewsbury.

West Mercia Police said it was treating the incidents as a priority and urged residents to remain vigilant.

In another incident on 27 September, burning newspaper was pushed through a cat flap at a flat in Camross Drive. The fire was quickly extinguished.

The two other attacks happened in Lapwood Drive on 30 September and 1 October.
