A planning application for new civic offices that will help to kick-start the £250m regeneration of Telford's Southwater area has been submitted.

The new offices in the Main Street will also house units which could become shops, cafes, bars or restaurants.

Officials said they would be built at no cost to the taxpayer, after the sale of the current civic offices to Asda.

The council expects to move into the building, which will provide office space for 550 staff, in early 2013.
