The owner of a cat tormented near his home in Shropshire said the attack made her afraid to let him outside again.

Merlin, a black and white three-year-old tabby, limped home on Monday with his legs tied together with wire and his face spray-painted green.

Owner Kirsty Ruff found the rescue cat crying out in pain and said although he should physically recover, he would probably be traumatised for life.

Police are investigating the attack, near Newington Way in Craven Arms.
