Red letter box stolen 'for scrap' in Kidderminster

A red post box has been stolen in Worcestershire by thieves who police believe want to sell it as scrap metal.

The cast iron box, worth £100, was taken from Trimpley Lane, Shatterford, Kidderminster, on 23 or 24 November.

A West Mercia Police spokeswoman said the theft was likely to have happened overnight.

"The post holding the post box had been sawn off. It is believed the post box was taken for scrap," she said.

Anyone with information about the incident was urged to contact West Mercia Police.

Anyone concerned a letter they posted was in the stolen box was urged to contact Royal Mail customer services.
