Drivers face dangerous conditions in Shropshire

  • Published

Heavy snowfall is causing problems for drivers on some roads in Shropshire.

Overnight snowfall and freezing temperatures have created treacherous driving conditions, including on the north and south of the A49.

There have been a number of accidents around the county. On the M54, one vehicle hit the embankment and ended up on its roof.

Drivers have been warned to only travel if necessary, allow more time for journeys and take extra care.

Christmas travellers were facing transport chaos across the UK. Birmingham Airport is among those airports where some flights have been cancelled.

The Met Office has issued a warning of severe weather across the West Midlands region.

It said widespread icy roads and snow were expected in many areas over the weekend.
