Three wade into River Perry in Shropshire to rescue dog

Three people have been treated by ambulance crews after going into the River Perry in Shropshire to try to rescue a dog.

It is understood the animal went into the freezing water at Mytton Mill near Montford Bridge, Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service said.

Its owner and two others then waded in to try to reach the dog.

The emergency services were called and all three people and the dog were accounted for.

Rescue boats were used to search the river upstream but two women and a man managed to get out of the freezing water themselves.

Ambulance crews treated them at the scene and although they were cold, they did not need to be taken to hospital.

The dog was taken to a vet for a check up.
