Grit rationed in Shropshire over Christmas
- Published
A council in Shropshire has decided to grit fewer roads to help preserve stocks beyond Christmas.
Telford & Wrekin Council said it had applied to the government earlier this week for emergency grit supplies but was waiting for its response.
Councillor Adrian Lawrence, cabinet member for environment, said the decision was taken "reluctantly".
He said without imposing restrictions the council would be likely to run out of grit by Christmas Day.
