Telford school merger talks set to start

  • Published

Proposals to begin talks over merging two different sets of infant and junior schools in Telford have been passed.

Telford & Wrekin Council approved the begining of the consultation process on Tuesday.

If the mergers take place William Reynolds Infant and Junior schools would join-up as would Madeley Infant School and John Fletcher Junior School.

The outcome of the consultation is expected in April.

The council has said it would save money from the mergers due to the reduction in funding required for school management.

The head teachers of both William Reynolds Infant School and Madeley Infant School have submitted formal resignations and the council said there was always a review of school provisions when this happens.
