Shrewsbury marks Royal Irish Regiment's return

The Royal Irish Regiment has paraded through Shrewsbury to mark its return from Afghanistan.

Soldiers from the Shropshire-based 1st Battalion recently returned from a six-month tour of duty, during which three of their comrades were killed.

The parade started at the castle and a church service was also held at Shrewsbury Abbey.

It is the battalion's second homecoming event. A parade took place through Market Drayton on Monday.
