Market Drayton pedestrian killed in car accident

A pedestrian in his 50s has been killed in a crash in Shropshire.

It happened at about 2230 BST on Tuesday in Shrewsbury Road, Market Drayton, West Mercia Police said.

A force spokesman said the the driver of the car involved, a silver Volkswagen Golf, was unhurt.

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman said: "Despite the best efforts of ambulance staff and doctors, nothing could be done to save this man who was confirmed dead at the scene."

Police are appealing for witnesses to come forward.
